The Sire: Grizzly

This is the sire of the litter, Grizzly.  Grizz is an AKC registered Newfoundland.  He is almost one and a half years old and still growing.  He is quite a bit larger than Snowflake and from a distinctly different breeding line.  He also has the sweet Newfoundland disposition.  He is very patient and calm and not terribly energetic.  He likes to play, but he also sees great merit in being a couch potato.  He is very well-mannered and quick to obey.  He is not nearly as energetic nor as athletic as Snow, but that does make for an "easier" family pet.  Grizz is a very confident, compliant dog that is eager to please his people.  Since his prey drive is low, he tends to befriend the smaller critters that other dogs might be tempted to chase.  He is truly a gentle giant.

Grizz is the epitome of a VELCRO dog.  His favorite place in the world is anywhere as long as he is beside a person...better yet, lightly leaning up against that person!  He is extremely affectionate.  He is a lover through and through.  He is never in much of a hurry for anything.  He just wants to relax and be  with his people!

The Dam: Snowflake (one week after delivery)

This is the dam, Snow.  The photo was taken one week after she delivered her pups.  She would have a much longer coat were not for the fact that we shave her and Grizz every summer to help them stay cooler.

Snowflake is a two year old AKC registered Newfoundland.  She is surprisingly high drive and quite athletic.  She has a strong work ethic and intense focus.  She has the sweet Newfoundland disposition, but is very independent.  She is more energetic than most Newfies and she is an alert watch dog.  She is quite protective of our young daughter.  She is on the smallish side for Newfoundlands.  She is very confident.  She has proved to be an exceptional mother--handling this very large litter (her first) very intelligently and with sacrificial dedication.  From the start, she has been instinctively rotating the puppies so that each one gets fully fed...even the smallest who otherwise might have been squeezed out of reaching the buffet!  When faced with a large litter, not all dogs are smart enough or determined enough to make sure the entire litter thrives, especially a first time mom like Snow.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Puppy "I" (Male Landseer)--RESERVED 11/17/20

Photos taken 10/22/20
Age: 1 week old

Rocky (former identified as Puppy "I")

Male.  Brown and White Landseer.
This fellow has a stylish white "collar" with an almost entirely brown back.  He has white stripes on his legs.  His tail is brown and white stiped as well. His belly is mostly white with one cute little brown belly button spot on it (see top photo!). He's probably the third biggest pups of the nine!

Updated photos of Rocky taken 11-15-20 (at age four and a half weeks old):

Rocky is a happy-go-lucky fellow.  He enjoys napping by his food dish!

Rocky has decided that winters in Arizona and summers in California is the life for him!  He can't wait to pack his bags and leave Missouri in just a few more weeks!

Puppy I (Rocky)
As this gorgeous boy has grown older, he has turned out to be the most serious of the litter.  If he were a child instead of a puppy, he would be the one who prefers quietly reading a book over being in the middle of a boisterous pillow fight.  He likes to stand back away from the action and size things up before deciding whether or not to join in.  He knows that it can be foolhardy to leap before you look!  He is a quiet, serious guy with a sweet sensitive spirit.

Age: 1 week old.

Puppy "H"  --No Longer Available--
THIS PUPPY HAS BEEN RESERVED

Male.  Brown and White Landseer.  He has the most white stripes on his back.  All of his tail is white except the base.  All four legs are white.  He has a small white streak on the top of his head. He has a little white fur "tattoo" of dog bone on his back (shows up best in Puppy I's photoshoot above, that Puppy H photobombed...he tried crawling up into Lilla's lap as she was featuring his brother).  He is one of the largest pups in the litter and one of the most active at this point.  He definitely is quick to come to every available meal and look for snacks in between times!!!

Update 11/23/20 (age 5 and a half weeks):

Puppy H
(age 6 weeks)

Puppy H
Puppy H is always the first to do everything, it seems.  He sees no problem at all with leaping before he looks.  He was the first to climb out of the whelping box to get to his mother's food pan--because, you know, FOOD!!!  These days he is the first to run to the gate when he sees anyone coming.  He is a meet and greet fellow.
